Study finds Ozempic users have lower risk of heart attacks and strokes but face more gastrointestinal issues
A new study found that people with type 2 diabetes using GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic experienced fewer serious health issues, including heart attacks and strokes. However, they also faced increased risks of gastrointestinal problems and other conditions. The research analyzed health data from about 2.4 million individuals, revealing that GLP-1 users had a lower likelihood of 42 health conditions but a higher likelihood of 19 others, such as nausea and vomiting. The study, based on a large dataset from the US Department of Veterans Affairs, highlights the need for further research on GLP-1 effects, especially in people without diabetes.
