A new study from the University of Georgia shows that omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, found in fish and nuts, are linked to a lower risk of 19 types of cancer. The research followed over 250,000 people for ten years, finding that high levels of these fatty acids in the blood were associated with reduced cancer incidence, regardless of other risk factors. While fish oil supplements may boost these healthy fats, the study noted that high omega-3 levels could slightly increase prostate cancer risk. The findings suggest women may benefit from increasing omega-3 intake.
