Sullivan's Steakhouse permanently closes in Downtown Pittsburgh
Sullivan's Steakhouse has closed its doors in Downtown Pittsburgh. The popular restaurant was located on the first floor of the U.S. Steel Tower and had only been open for less than four years. The restaurant announced its permanent closure this week, citing "unforeseen circumstances" in its statement. Sullivan's expressed gratitude to the community for its support over the years. The restaurant encouraged customers to visit its sister restaurant, Eddie Merlot’s, which also has a location in Pittsburgh. Sullivan's Steakhouse opened in October 2021. It is part of the Dividend Restaurant Group, which owns several restaurant brands, including Eddie Merlot's. The chain, founded in 1996, is known for offering hand-cut steaks, fresh seafood, and signature cocktails. The Downtown location featured a 7,600 square-foot dining area with a capacity for 250 guests. It also had private dining rooms and temperature-controlled wine lockers. The restaurant's decor included photos of John L. Sullivan, a famous bare-knuckle boxer from the late 1800s, highlighting a local connection.
