Summer camps for all abilities in Strongsville and Westlake

Achievement Centers for Children is preparing to host a variety of summer camps in 2025 for children and adults with and without disabilities. The camps will take place at Camp Cheerful in Strongsville and at the ACC facility in Westlake. Camp Cheerful, celebrating its 78th year, will offer several options. The Cheerful Day Camp is for ages 5 to 21 and runs weekly from June 9 to August 15. A new Camp Buddy program invites teens aged 12 to 16 to support younger campers. Additionally, a Summer Overnight Camp will be available for those aged 16 and older, starting June 8 and lasting until August 8. There will also be an Extended School Year Camp for students needing summer learning, running from June 9 to August 1. At ACC’s Westlake site, various therapy-focused camps will be offered. These include a Speech Language Camp for young children and a Nature Explorers Camp designed for kids aged 5 to 7, offering outdoor activities and exploration. There will also be a Writing Wizards Camp to help children with handwriting challenges. In other news, two North Royalton High School seniors, Angelina Mondi and Emma Siegel, have been named National Merit Finalists. This recognition puts them among the top high school scholars in the country. They are now eligible for National Merit Scholarships. Music lovers can enjoy a concert titled "The Wondrous World of Weber" at The Bath Church on March 28. This free event will feature chamber music inspired by 19th-century composers, including works from Carl Maria von Weber and Felix Mendelssohn. Additionally, a workshop to help improve stream banks will be hosted by Cuyahoga Soil & Water Conservation District on April 5. Participants will learn about healthy stream banks and how to install live stakes. Registration is required. Lastly, the North Royalton Key Club is hosting a fundraiser on March 29 to honor former student John Owen, who had Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
