The championship seems more competitive, as teams in both New Zealand and Australia are performing strongly. In Australia, attendance at games has also improved, with some venues averaging over 20,000 fans for the first time since 2015. Currently, three Australian teams are in the championship's top six, alongside three New Zealand teams. Viewership in Australia has risen by about 17 percent compared to the previous season. On the flip side, the Auckland Blues are struggling this season. The defending champions are sitting at 10th place with a record of 1-5. Their recent loss to the Crusaders was particularly disappointing. The Blues had ten All Blacks in their squad, but injuries have plagued their season. Their coach, Vern Cotter, acknowledged the team's mistakes and the need for improvement. Meanwhile, the New South Wales Waratahs have turned their fortunes around. After finishing last last season, they now hold fourth place with a record of 4-1. Their recent victory against the ACT Brumbies marked a significant turnaround for the team.
