Super Typhoon Man-yi strikes Philippines displacing 400,000 people
Super Typhoon Man-yi made landfall in the Philippines, bringing sustained winds of up to 125 mph. About 400,000 people have evacuated their homes, seeking shelter in schools and malls as the storm caused widespread damage to houses and power lines. The storm weakened slightly after hitting land but left Catanduanes without power. Authorities are assessing damage, and disaster-response teams are active in affected areas. There are currently no reports of casualties. In addition to Man-yi, previous storms have displaced an estimated 750,000 people in the northern Philippines. Many areas are at risk of landslides due to saturated ground from consecutive storms.
