Super typhoon Man-Yi strikes Philippines prompting mass evacuations
Super typhoon Man-Yi struck the Philippines on Sunday, causing over a million evacuations from its path. The storm, with winds of 185 kph, made landfall in Catanduanes province and moved towards Metro Manila, bringing heavy rain. Despite the extensive evacuations, no casualties have been reported. However, strong winds damaged homes and buildings in affected areas. The typhoon is the sixth to hit the Philippines in a month. Weather officials expect Man-Yi to weaken as it moves across Luzon. Some areas, like Virac, have seen reduced winds and rain, allowing some evacuees to return home.
