Super Typhoon Pepito triggers evacuations in Quirino and nearby towns
Super Typhoon Pepito, also known as Man-yi, caused the evacuation of at least 174 families, or about 500 people, in Quirino on November 17. Additional evacuations occurred in nearby towns, including Aglipay and Maddela. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration reported that Pepito is maintaining its strength, with maximum winds of 185 km/h and gusts up to 230 km/h. The storm is currently moving northwest toward Aurora province. Residents near the coast have been warned about potential storm surges as the typhoon approaches landfall. The eye of Pepito was located over the waters of Baler, Aurora, as of Sunday afternoon.
