Super Typhoon Pepito triggers storm surge in Polillo Islands
Super Typhoon Pepito, also known as Man-Yi, caused significant storm surges in the Polillo Islands, Quezon, on Sunday morning. Videos showed waves reaching roads and flooding in some areas. The Philippine weather bureau, PAGASA, issued a storm surge warning, predicting high risks of inundation in low-lying coastal communities across several provinces. Storm surges of up to 3 meters are expected in Quezon and nearby areas. As of Sunday morning, Pepito had maximum winds of 185 km/h and was moving northwest at 15 km/h. Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 5 was raised over parts of the Polillo Islands.
