Two Ford Mustangs that helped Scott McLaughlin win consecutive Supercars Championship titles are on their way to the United States. Dick Johnson Racing (DJR) shared a video on social media showing the cars leaving their workshop in Gold Coast. The Mustangs will be displayed at the Team Penske Museum in Phoenix, Arizona. This museum will also feature McLaughlin's 2018 championship-winning Ford Falcon FG X. Team Penske acquired the Mustangs when they ended their partnership with DJR in 2020. The cars, known as DJRTP06 and DJRTP07, were built using chassis provided by Pace Innovations. DJRTP06 competed in the 2019 season until a crash at the Gold Coast 600 ended its racing career. It achieved an impressive 18 wins in 25 races, including the prestigious 2019 Bathurst 1000 with driver Alex Premat. DJRTP07 made its debut in the final races of 2019, securing the championship title on its first outing at Sandown. The car tallied 13 wins in 27 starts before its last race at the 2020 Bathurst 1000, finishing fifth. DJR has since built two new cars for the 2021 season. The departure of the Mustangs comes as DJR prepares for the 2025 Supercars season, with their current cars set to head to New Zealand. The team recently updated their cars' liveries from Shell V-Power to Jet Couriers for this journey.
