Supreme Court issues notice on plea to transfer case against Chandigarh tribunal officer

The Supreme Court has issued a notice regarding a petition from M M Dhonchak, the presiding officer of Chandigarh's Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT-2). He seeks to transfer a case against him from the Punjab and Haryana High Court to another high court, preferably Delhi. Dhonchak claims that the DRT Bar Association filed the case against him, making it difficult for him to find legal representation. He argues that he should not have to defend himself personally for actions taken in his official role. The court has asked the involved parties to respond within four weeks. Dhonchak is currently suspended and is also challenging this suspension in the Delhi High Court.
