Supreme Court mandates Khyber Pakhtunkhwa finalize regulations quickly
The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to finalize stone crushing regulations within one month, rejecting a request for a three-month extension. The court emphasized the need for effective implementation of these rules. During the hearing, it was revealed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has 903 stone crushing plants, with many operational or under construction. Concerns were raised about the environmental impact and proximity to residential areas. The court also noted that previous regulations restricted stone crushers near populated areas, but new laws allow them closer. The K-P government must seek approval from the National Environmental Council for the new rules by the deadline.
