Supreme Court of Pakistan rejects PTI's request to address protest-related deaths
The Supreme Court of Pakistan has rejected a plea from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party to take notice of deaths during recent protests. The court stated it could only address formally presented issues. During the hearing, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government's lawyer raised concerns about the protests and fatalities. Justices emphasized that the matter was not before the court and warned against politicizing the proceedings. Clashes in Islamabad resulted in 10 deaths and 71 injuries, with both civilians and security personnel affected. PTI accused security forces of excessive force, while the party suspended its protest following a late-night operation.
