Supreme Court pauses actions against Sports City developer
The Supreme Court has temporarily halted coercive actions against the developer of the Sports City project in Noida, while allowing a CBI investigation to continue. This follows an Allahabad High Court order for a probe into alleged misconduct involving builders and Noida Authority officials. The High Court had previously dismissed a plea from Lotus Green Constructions, ordering the CBI to investigate all parties linked to the project. The court also instructed the Noida Authority to demand outstanding payments from developers, warning of automatic cancellations for non-compliance. The Sports City scheme, launched in 2014, aimed to allocate land for sports facilities and housing. However, many developers have not fulfilled their obligations, leaving over 10,000 homebuyers in uncertainty and outstanding dues of Rs 2,700 crore.
