Supreme Court raises concerns over Enforcement Directorate affidavit as Additional Solicitor General questions its validity
On January 17, Additional Solicitor General SV Raju told the Supreme Court that a counter-affidavit from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) appeared suspicious. He claimed it was filed without proper verification and lacked consultation with his department. Raju described the affidavit as "half-baked" and indicated that he had requested a departmental inquiry into the matter. He emphasized that the affidavit was submitted without proper vetting by the investigatory agency. The Supreme Court bench expressed concern over how the affidavit was filed without proper instructions. The court has asked the Advocate on Record for the ED to appear for further clarification on the issue.
