Survey: 90% find iPhone 16e too expensive

techradar.com

A recent survey shows that most people believe the new iPhone 16e is too expensive for a budget phone. More than 90% of respondents think its price does not fit its category. The iPhone 16e, released a few weeks ago, is seen as costly, priced at $599 for the base model. This is a significant jump from the previous iPhone SE, which started at $429. The survey, conducted by SellCell, included over 3,500 Apple users. It revealed that many are unimpressed with the iPhone 16e, despite it having advanced features like the A18 chipset and 8GB of RAM. Notably, around 72.7% of those surveyed prefer a price of $500 for the phone. The iPhone 16e is cheaper than the standard iPhone 16, which starts at $799. However, it costs more than alternatives from other brands, such as the Google Pixel 8a. Many survey participants mentioned they would not consider buying the iPhone 16e mainly because it lacks a second camera. While there are arguments that the iPhone 16e and iPhone SE are different lines, the price hike of $170 in two years raises eyebrows. This survey reflects a feeling among users that they are not getting good value. Even though the iPhone 16e is a way into Apple's ecosystem, some believe that the standard iPhone 16 is a better deal overall.
