Survey confirms land encroachment behind Kallai auditorium

A recent survey by the Kozhikode Corporation has confirmed encroachment on land behind the OK Auditorium at Kallai. The surveyor, R. Jithesh, stated that at least 25 cents on the southern side of the auditorium is classified as revenue land. This area was previously owned by Mangalam Press, which surrendered it to the government due to encroachment allegations. The survey found discrepancies between the land boundaries of the auditorium's owners and the official documents. The findings have been sent to higher authorities for further action. The Corporation's revenue wing and the local tahsildar will decide the next steps. Concerns about encroachment were raised by a local river protection committee a few months ago. They had previously stopped attempts to encroach on the land, but some encroachers filled part of the river using construction waste. The encroached area is currently being used for parking by the auditorium. A prior survey on January 15 also reached similar conclusions. The latest survey was conducted as part of ongoing legal actions. The landowners were given a chance to present documents to back their claims during the survey, which included team members N.K. Fenu Nath and Anith Kumar.
