A man was arrested in Santa Rosa City, Laguna, on March 14, 2025, for parricide related to a murder case from 2011. The Philippine National Police - Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) announced this on Wednesday. The suspect, named Alberto, was the husband of a woman who went missing in May 2011. Authorities say he was the last person seen with her before her disappearance. Two days later, dismembered human remains were found in the area. However, the identity of the body was not confirmed at that time. In February 2024, the victim's daughter reported that her uncle claimed Alberto confessed to the killing and dismembering of her mother. This information led the police to reopen the case. DNA testing conducted in August 2024 confirmed that the remains belonged to Alberto’s wife. A criminal complaint for parricide was filed against Alberto in January 2025. Following this, an arrest warrant was issued by the Cabuyao Court on March 11. CIDG chief Police Major General Nicolas Torre III praised his team for their persistence and encouraged the public to report any criminal activity in their areas.
