Suspect arrested in researcher’s death over parking dispute
A man has been arrested for the death of Abhishek Swarnkar, a researcher at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research in Mohali. The suspect, Maninder Pal Singh, was on the run after allegedly killing Swarnkar over a parking dispute. The incident occurred when Swarnkar parked his bike outside his home. Singh reportedly confronted him, leading to a physical altercation. Swarnkar lost consciousness and later died in the hospital. Singh is charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder. If convicted, he could face life imprisonment or up to 10 years in jail.
