Suspect in Toronto murder has violent criminal history

Adimabua Chukwuka, a 31-year-old man, is accused of first-degree murder in the death of a homeless man in Toronto. The victim, 60-year-old Mario Ferreira, was found dead near the University of Toronto campus after an allegedly unprovoked attack. Police arrested Chukwuka on Friday afternoon. They have video evidence showing him attacking Ferreira with what appears to be debris from a dumpster or construction site early Thursday morning. Chukwuka has a significant history of violent crime. He faced serious charges in the past, including attempted murder and assault with a weapon. In 2014, he was charged with multiple counts related to stabbings, and in 2022, he faced more charges after incidents involving a knife and robbery. The outcomes of Chukwuka's previous charges are not known yet. The police continue to investigate the recent attack as part of their homicide unit efforts.
