Suspect killed, three officers wounded in Pueblo shootout
A suspect was killed and three police officers were injured in a shooting in Pueblo, Colorado, on Tuesday evening. The incident occurred about 2 miles east of the Colorado State Fairgrounds. The shooting started around 7:12 PM when officers responded to reports of an officer shot near Mesa Avenue and Cedar Street. Upon arrival, shots were exchanged between the suspect and law enforcement. The suspect fled on foot while continuing to shoot at officers. Police returned fire, hitting the suspect, who died at the scene. His identity has not been released yet, and the Pueblo County Coroner’s Office will provide details later. Three injured officers were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition. Governor Jared Polis praised law enforcement for their bravery in challenging situations. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is leading the inquiry into the shooting, with support from the Colorado State Patrol.
