Suspect steals police car, crashes into family vehicle

A woman and her two young children were hurt in a crash involving a stolen U.S. Postal Service truck in Bridgeview, Illinois. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon when a suspect, who is known to police, allegedly stole a squad car from the Bedford Park police. Police said the suspect took the squad car while officers were responding to a call. The vehicle was later found abandoned in Chicago Ridge. After the squad car broke down, the suspect reportedly stole a USPS truck from a postal worker. The suspect drove away in the stolen truck and hit a car with the family inside. The mother and her children, ages 4 and 7, were taken to a local hospital. They were reported to be in stable condition. The suspect was arrested and is in custody. However, police have not released the suspect's name. The investigation is still ongoing.
