Sustasia Fashion Prize winner announced at Shanghai Fashion Week
Eight Asian designers will compete for the first Sustasia Fashion Prize during Shanghai Fashion Week, starting this Friday. The event aims to promote sustainable fashion through innovation. The finalists include designers from Indonesia, India, Vietnam, the Philippines, Hong Kong, mainland China, and Japan. They will present their work to a panel of judges, which includes experts in the fashion and sustainability sectors. The winner will receive 100,000 renminbi, about $14,000, along with support in supply chain and retail. They used advanced sustainable materials to create their final pieces, collaborating with well-known industry leaders and material providers. These materials include plant-based leathers and organic silks. The goal is to connect material innovators with designers, helping them explore new ideas in sustainable technology. Yeh, co-founder of the prize, emphasized the importance of showcasing the diversity and creativity of sustainable fashion. The exhibition of the finalists' works will be displayed at Suhe Haus from Saturday until April 6.
