SUV nearly hits child by ignoring school bus laws

A child in Onaway, Michigan, almost got hit by a SUV while getting off a school bus. The incident occurred on March 17, along M-33. Video released by Michigan State Police shows the SUV driving on the sidewalk to pass the bus. At the time, the bus had its flashing lights on, indicating that children were exiting. The SUV was described as white with a flame decal on the side. In Michigan, it is illegal for drivers to ignore a school bus with its lights activated. Penalties for not stopping can include fines ranging from $100 to $500. Drivers may also have to complete community service for such violations.
