Sydney model pleads guilty to animal and child sex offenses

A 27-year-old man from Sydney has admitted to serious crimes, including having sex with an animal and multiple child sex offenses. Cody Asplet was charged with 92 offenses in total, which allegedly took place between 2022 and 2024. On March 23, 2025, he pleaded guilty to six of these charges in a Melbourne court. This plea was part of an agreement with police prosecutors, leading to most of the charges being dropped. Asplet's crimes included bestiality and using a communication service to intimidate. He also faced charges related to child abuse material, such as possessing and advertising this illegal content. He will appear in the County Court of Victoria in August for a pre-sentence hearing, where he could face over ten years in prison. His online presence was significant, with an Instagram account that had thousands of followers before he deleted it. This account featured photos of him with various dogs. Asplet's offenses occurred in Melbourne before he returned to Sydney. His criminal activities remained undisclosed for nearly a year, until a gag order was lifted recently. The community expressed outrage upon learning about his actions. Many are hoping for a strict sentence to ensure he does not harm others in the future. Asplet will remain free on bail until his next court appearance.
