Syncing workouts to menstrual cycles doesn't enhance muscle growth
A new study published in The Journal of Physiology found that syncing workouts to the menstrual cycle does not enhance muscle growth. Researchers studied 12 women and concluded that female hormones do not significantly influence muscle response to exercise. The study examined muscle protein synthesis and breakdown during different phases of the menstrual cycle. Results showed that while exercise increased muscle protein synthesis, the timing related to the menstrual cycle had no effect on muscle gains. Experts suggest that while cycle syncing may not improve strength, hormonal changes can affect how women feel during workouts. They recommend listening to your body and adjusting exercise plans based on personal comfort rather than strictly following a cycle-based schedule.
