Syracuse mother and son tragically killed in shooting
Yeraldith Tschudy, a 32-year-old mother of two and a social worker, was shot and killed in Syracuse on March 17, 2025. Her boyfriend, David Huff, 43, is charged with first-degree murder and second-degree murder in connection with the incident, which also claimed the life of his 11-year-old son, Jeremiah. The shooting occurred around 9:30 p.m. at a home on Roney Road. Police reported that Huff used a shotgun to fatally shoot both Tschudy and his son. Tschudy worked at a nonprofit organization in Rochester that helps people with mental health issues. Family members described her as a devoted mother who spent significant time with her children, often taking them to skateparks or playing video games together. Tschudy was born in Colombia and moved to the Rochester area with her family as a child. She attended Bryant and Stratton College and Roberts Wesleyan University, aspiring to travel and experience life to the fullest. She had only been dating Huff for six to seven months. In the aftermath of the tragedy, a GoFundMe was started to help with funeral expenses. David Huff is currently held in jail following his arrest on March 18. The investigation continues as the community mourns the loss of Tschudy and her son.
