Syrian rebels find tortured bodies in military hospital morgue in Damascus
Syrian rebels have discovered around 40 bodies showing signs of torture in a military hospital morgue in Damascus. The bodies were found in body bags at Harasta Hospital, with many showing severe injuries and signs of recent death. Witness Mohammed al-Hajj described the scene as horrific, with bodies piled up and some showing signs of having been tortured. The rebels coordinated with the Syrian Red Crescent to transport the bodies for identification by families. Activists suggest the bodies may be linked to Saydnaya prison, known for its brutal treatment of detainees. A watchdog group estimates that up to 60,000 people have been tortured and killed in Syrian prisons under the Assad regime.
