T1 Energy plans 5 GW solar factory in Texas

T1 Energy, formerly known as FREYR Battery, has announced the location of its new solar cell factory in Milam County, Texas. This facility will be part of the G2 Austin campus and is expected to have a capacity of 5 gigawatts. The factory will require an investment of up to $850 million and is projected to create around 1,800 jobs. Construction is set to begin in mid-2025. T1 Energy also operates the G1 Dallas factory, acquired from Trina Solar, which employs over 1,000 people. The company aims to become a leader in solar and battery storage in the U.S.
