Taal Volcano in the Philippines experiences four phreatic eruptions

Taal Volcano in Batangas experienced four phreatic eruptions on Friday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS). The eruptions lasted between one and six minutes. On the same day, two volcanic earthquakes were recorded, including a seven-minute tremor. PHIVOLCS noted significant sulfur dioxide emissions and observed plumes rising up to 1,200 meters. Alert Level 1 remains in effect, indicating low-level unrest. The public is advised to avoid Taal Volcano Island and surrounding areas due to potential steam-driven explosions and volcanic gas hazards.
