Taiwan emphasizes India's role in Indo-Pacific stability
Taiwan's Deputy National Security Adviser Hsu Szu-chien is visiting India with a delegation. During his visit, he emphasized the importance of India for peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. He spoke at the Raisina Dialogue, highlighting the need for stronger ties between India and Taiwan. Hsu noted that the economic relationship is growing. More Taiwanese companies are investing in India, particularly in technology and semiconductors. He acknowledged that while the relationship between the two nations is friendly, there are challenges to overcome. For example, the Taiwanese business community is not very familiar with India's business environment. There is currently no formal trade agreement between India and Taiwan. However, Hsu mentioned that they are considering general trade agreements to strengthen their economic ties. He also expressed hope for resuming direct flights between the two countries, which were canceled after the COVID-19 pandemic. Hsu's participation at the Raisina Dialogue aimed to promote mutual understanding between Taiwan and India. He appreciated the opportunity to engage with Indian officials and underscored the potential for more investments, trade, and exchanges between the two nations.
