Tambaram police implement measures to ease GST road congestion

thehindu.com

Tambaram city police have implemented new measures to ease traffic congestion on GST Road near the Kilambakkam bus stand. Long-distance buses are now required to take a U-turn at Vandalur and must not stop on the opposite side of the bus terminus. Previously, haphazard parking by buses caused significant congestion, especially during peak hours. With the new rules, all buses must enter the bus stand, allowing for smoother traffic flow and reducing passenger wait times on the road. Additionally, police are deploying personnel to enforce these changes and will fine autos that pick up passengers illegally on the roadside. Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras are also being installed for safety.
