Tamil Nadu CM assures justice for ex-policeman's murder
In the Tamil Nadu Assembly, Chief Minister M K Stalin spoke about the murder of retired police sub-inspector Zakhir Hussein. He said that those responsible would be brought to justice. This statement came after a call for attention from several members regarding Hussein's murder on March 18, 2025. Stalin noted that two suspects have surrendered to the court in Tirunelveli, and police teams are searching for additional suspects. He emphasized that his government will not allow anyone to take the law into their own hands and that all individuals involved in crimes will face justice. Leader of the Opposition, Edappadi K Palaniswami, raised concerns about the circumstances surrounding Hussein's death. Hussein had reported threats to his life three months prior, but Palaniswami claimed the police did not take adequate action. He suggested that the negligence of law enforcement allowed the murder to happen. Hussein, who had a land dispute with another person, had previously expressed fears for his safety. A video of him discussing these threats has been circulating on social media. The murder has caused shock and tension in the community, especially during the holy month of Ramzan. CM Stalin confirmed that there were ongoing investigations into the land dispute and the threats made against Hussein. He stated that while the police were questioning the other party involved, the tragic incident occurred. Authorities are also reviewing the video where Hussein spoke about his fears.
