Tamil Nadu colleges offer UK summer internships for students
Two colleges in Tamil Nadu, Ethiraj College for Women in Chennai and PSGR Krishnammal College for Women in Coimbatore, are planning to send students to the UK for summer internships next year. The colleges aim to provide opportunities for students in various fields, including biological sciences, computer science, business studies, and humanities. Internships will last about 15 days at five UK universities, such as the University of Nottingham and Coventry University. Undergraduates can participate in the fourth semester, while postgraduate students can do so in the second semester. Ethiraj College's principal, S Uma Gowrie, mentioned that they will begin with a minimum of 20 students in the first batch. To assist with visas and communication with the UK universities, Ethiraj College plans to establish a centre for international relations. PSGR Krishnammal College is also focusing on summer internships and research collaborations, particularly with the University of Nottingham for life sciences. Students from various programs, such as BBA and BSc in AI and data science, will be eligible for the internships. Additionally, the college offers a unique BVoc in costume designing, making De Montfort University an ideal place for those students to gain experience in fashion design.
