Tamil Nadu government re-designates Additional Advocates General

The Tamil Nadu government has changed its Additional Advocates General (AAGs) roles at the Madras High Court and the Madurai Bench. A new Government Order (G.O.) was released on Tuesday. Senior counsel M. Ajmal Khan has been appointed as AAG-I. Other senior counsels are now designated as AAGs II to XI. This includes Veera Kathiravan, Haja Nazirudeen, P. Kumaresan, R. Baskaran, J. Ravindran, R. Ramanlal, K. Chandramohan, M. Suresh Kumar, R. Neelakandan, and P. Muthukumar. J. Ravindran has also taken on extra responsibilities. He will coordinate between the government and the judiciary. The changes were made following a recommendation from Advocate General P.S. Raman, who wrote to the government on February 21, 2025.
