Tamil Nadu police trained in digital evidence collection
A recent training program focused on collecting digital evidence to help solve crimes was conducted for police officers in southern India. The program aimed to enhance skills in gathering and presenting digital evidence in court to ensure successful convictions. Sixty officers from four districts—Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, and Kanniyakumari—attended the training. Officers ranging from Additional Superintendent of Police to Sub-Inspectors participated. The training was overseen by Superintendent of Police S. Aravind and ADSP (Cyber Crime) Julius Caesar. During the sessions, officers learned how to collect evidence from electronic devices like mobile phones and computers. They were also taught how to store this evidence for trial use. The program emphasized the importance of digital evidence, such as social media posts and online transactions, in identifying suspects and strengthening cases. At the conclusion of the program, Deputy Inspector General of Police Pa. Moorthy awarded certificates to the participants. The training is expected to improve crime investigations and support the legal process in securing convictions.
