More than 250 government schoolchildren in Tamil Nadu will participate in state-level workshops in Chennai from March 24 to 26, 2025. A total of 274 students from Classes 6 to 9 have been selected based on their performance in competitions held throughout the year. The workshops are organized by the School Education Department. They mark the end of various club activities in government schools. Students from different forums, including literary, movie, and quiz clubs, will attend. Specifically, 80 students from the literary forum, 80 from the quiz forum, and 114 from the movie forum will take part. These clubs were set up in 2022 to promote non-academic skills. Schools allocate two periods each week for these activities. Each club is led by the headmaster, with a teacher and a student acting as secretary. Students are chosen for the workshops through block-level and district-level competitions. An official stated that the workshops will enhance students' skills in areas like essay writing and general knowledge. During the three days, students will visit Fort St. George, the Government Egmore Museum, and the Guindy Children’s Park. At the end of the workshops, students are expected to produce a magazine and conduct a mock quiz.
