Ta'Niya Latson leads nation in women's basketball scoring

Ta'Niya Latson is a standout player on the Florida State University women's basketball team. At just 20 years old, she is already the nation’s leading scorer. In a recent game against LSU, she scored 23 points in the first half, helping her team stay competitive. Latson is in her third season at Florida State. However, she is not eligible for the WNBA draft this year. To enter the draft, players need to be at least 22 years old or have no college eligibility left. Latson will be eligible in 2026. Standing at 5-foot-8, Latson has been impressive this season. She has started all 28 games and averages 25 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game. Her shooting accuracy is also notable, at 45.3% overall and 35.7% from three-point range. This NCAA Tournament is her second. Last year, she played in her first tournament and scored 25 points in a loss to Alabama. Latson hails from Miami, where she earned several accolades in high school, including being named Florida Dairy Farmers Miss Basketball in 2022. Lastly, ESPN ranked her as the No. 14 player nationally in the 2022 recruiting class.
