Tara Palmeri launches YouTube channel for unbiased political coverage

Political journalist Tara Palmeri is shifting her focus to YouTube. After working on a newsletter for Washington insiders, she wants to reach a broader audience. Palmeri recently announced she is leaving her position at the startup Puck to start her own venture. Palmeri aims to engage with people in the political "middle" without showing a strong bias. Unlike many other journalists who have left traditional media to start podcasts or newsletters, she plans to create content mainly on YouTube. Although she will also have a Substack newsletter, she wants to carve out a unique space on the streaming platform. YouTube has become popular for podcasts and news analysis, drawing in over 1 billion monthly listeners. However, it remains to be seen if Palmeri can achieve the same success as more partisan commentators. Palmeri prides herself on being objective. She does not vote while covering elections and sees herself as “feared and fearless.” In her reporting career, she has faced backlash from both Democrats and Republicans. With a grant from YouTube, Palmeri has invested in new equipment and will publish about four videos a week. She is excited about being independent and creating content that reflects her voice.
