Bangladeshi cricketer Taskin Ahmed has revealed that the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) reached out to him regarding a potential role as a replacement player for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The team is currently dealing with injuries to key bowlers, and they are uncertain about the availability of Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, and Avesh Khan. Taskin, who had a strong performance in the ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025, mentioned that LSG inquired if he could obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). This year, no players from Bangladesh were selected by any of the IPL franchises. Taskin has yet to play in the tournament. Taskin explained, “The contact was made because no Bangladeshi player was picked. Lucknow had contacted me to check my availability for the tournament if needed.” He expressed confidence that he would be able to secure the NOC and noted that the franchise must call him first for this to happen. He further stated, "I have spoken to the board, and if I receive a call, there shouldn’t be any issues with the NOC." The LSG squad also has other options available, including Rajvardhan Hangargekar and Shamar Joseph. Shardul Thakur is also expected to join as a replacement player. The Lucknow Super Giants will kick off their IPL 2025 campaign against the Delhi Capitals on March 22 at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
