Tasmania's AFL team plans extensive draft concessions

foxsports.com.au

Tasmania's AFL team, the Devils, will receive special concessions to help them compete when they join the league in 2028. They will not automatically get the No.1 pick in the 2027 Draft but will have six of the top 13 selections. The Devils will also have access to a mini-draft, allowing them to select 17-year-old players a year early, but they must trade these picks. Similar to GWS, they may receive around a dozen first-round picks over their first three years. Additional concessions include signing uncontracted players from other clubs, pre-listing local prospects, and a sign-on bonus fund exceeding $1 million. The final list build rules are expected to be confirmed by mid-2025.
