Tata Communications has launched Vayu, a new cloud fabric aimed at helping businesses manage their cloud costs and complexities. This next-gen service integrates various components, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), artificial intelligence (AI) platforms, and security features. It promises to cut cloud costs by up to 30%. Vayu was designed to simplify enterprise cloud solutions in what Tata Communications calls the "Intelligent Enterprise era." The system consolidates many services into a single, user-friendly ecosystem. It allows companies to improve control over their cloud resources, reduce operational expenses, and scale without being tied to one vendor. The pricing model is transparent, with no hidden fees. The company's managing director and CEO, A.S. Lakshminarayanan, emphasized that there is an increasing need for cloud and AI solutions that balance performance, costs, and sustainability. Vayu aims to provide these benefits and is estimated to lower costs by 15-25% compared to larger cloud providers. The cloud fabric features high-performance NVIDIA GPUs that provide on-demand access for AI tasks, removing the need for heavy upfront investments. Vayu also includes an AI Studio, which offers tools for model development and monitoring. The built-in automation features allow businesses to manage operations and costs efficiently. Tata Communications has tailored Vayu to meet various industry needs, ranging from finance to retail. The platform supports both public and private cloud infrastructures, ensuring that data can be accessed seamlessly across different environments while maintaining security and compliance with regulations. Additionally, Vayu employs a zero-trust security framework and plans to introduce direct liquid cooling technology for better heat management in cloud computing.
