Te-Hina Paopao bids farewell after final game
Te-Hina Paopao played her last game at Colonial Life Arena in South Carolina. Over 12,000 fans filled the arena to support her. This fifth-year senior had already announced that it would be her final game at home, no matter what. After the game against Indiana, Paopao thanked the fans. She affectionately called them the "FAMS" and recognized how much fun they made her time at South Carolina. Paopao shared that she would always treasure the moments spent playing in front of such a passionate crowd. On the court, Paopao had a strong performance. She scored nine points and also had four blocks, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Her defense was crucial, according to her coach, Dawn Staley. Staley explained that Paopao's defensive skills are often overlooked but were executed perfectly during the game. Staley also noted the significant support from South Carolina fans. She emphasized that their energy creates a unique atmosphere that helps the team perform better. As the Gamecocks gear up for their 11th consecutive Sweet 16 appearance, Paopao’s contributions at Colonial Life Arena will be fondly remembered.
