Teacher acquitted of assault in Coral Harbour, Nunavut
A former teacher from Coral Harbour, Nunavut, has been found not guilty of assaulting a student. Michelle Wolf faced one charge related to an incident at Sakku School in 2023. The case went to trial, and a decision was made last week. During the trial, it was revealed that Wolf tried to stop a student who was misbehaving in the classroom. She pulled the student by their sweatshirt to get them to stop running around. The student's identity is protected by law, as they are a minor. Wolf testified that she called for help but received none. She claimed she only held onto the hoodie briefly. However, the student stated that Wolf held on longer and pulled harder. Justice Manocchio concluded that the teacher acted appropriately given the circumstances.
