Teacher arrested for sexually harassing student in Vepanahalli

A teacher supervising exams at a government school was arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a student. The incident happened on March 18, 2025, during Class 12 board exams in Bargur block. The teacher, Ramesh, is 44 years old and works at the Government Higher Secondary School in Vepanahalli. The student, who attends a private school, accused Ramesh of inappropriately touching her while she was taking the exam. After the incident, she reported it to her teacher. This teacher then informed the principal of the exam center. Other teachers at the school joined together to file a complaint with the Bargur All Women Police Station. They also mentioned that another female student in the same classroom had made a similar accusation against Ramesh. The police arrested him on March 19, 2025, under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The investigation is ongoing.
