Teen arrested for stabbing Vancouver taxi driver over payment
A 16-year-old boy is in custody after allegedly stabbing a taxi driver in Vancouver. The incident happened on Tuesday night in the Downtown Eastside area. Police say the stabbing occurred around 9:30 p.m. An off-duty officer saw the attack near Main and Hastings streets. It seems there was a dispute about payment between the driver and the passenger when they arrived at the destination. The taxi driver, who is 59 years old, was taken to the hospital for a non-life-threatening injury. He has since been released. The teen, who is from Richmond, B.C., is facing potential charges of aggravated assault.
