Teen driver injures mom and daughter in Andheri

A woman and her daughter were severely injured when a speeding car hit them in Andheri, Mumbai. The incident took place on Sunday evening while they were out for a walk. The victims are 54-year-old Barkha Thakur and her 31-year-old daughter, Priyanka Agarwal. The collision involved a Sedan driven by 19-year-old Mohit Nirmal. He reportedly lost control of the vehicle before crashing into the two women and then hitting a parked bus. Nirmal, a college student from Jogeshwari, initially fled the scene but later returned to surrender at the Versova Police Station. Nirmal told police he was driving with two friends when the crash happened. He feared the anger of bystanders, which is why he drove away. Senior Inspector Gajanan Pawar of the Versova Police confirmed that Nirmal has been charged with reckless driving under the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and has been issued a notice.
