Teen girl in Shravasti dies by suicide after harassment

A 17-year-old girl has reportedly died by suicide after being harassed by two local youths in the Shravasti district. The incident occurred on Monday night in the Ikauna area, according to police. The girl's mother filed a complaint on Tuesday, stating that her daughter was harassed at a medical store. When the girl returned home, she told her mother about the incident and later took her own life. The mother found her daughter hanging from a ceiling fan and raised an alarm. The police have sent the body for postmortem. The girl's father works as a laborer in Delhi, and she lived with her mother in Shravasti. Her marriage was scheduled for April 30. Police are investigating the case. Circle officer Satish Kumar Sharma said the two youths will face arrest if the allegations are confirmed.
