Teen sentenced for stabbing man in Bedford

A teenager has been sentenced to five years in prison for stabbing a man in the back in Bedford. The incident took place outside the Co-op store on Church Lane in August 2024. Police report that the attack was violent and unprovoked. Nazim Uddin, who is 18 years old and does not have a fixed address, was involved in a heated argument with the victim before he stabbed him. After the attack, Uddin fled the scene in a taxi. He was convicted of grievous bodily harm and carrying a bladed article. Uddin was sentenced on March 14 at Luton Crown Court. The victim suffered life-threatening injuries but has since recovered. Detective Constable Chloe Vickery described the attack as very serious. She praised the victim for his bravery in coming forward to report the crime. The incident highlights concerns about violence in public spaces, especially in busy areas.
