Teenager charged for gunfire outside N.J. restaurant
A 17-year-old boy from Newark has been charged after gunfire erupted outside an Applebee's restaurant in Linden, New Jersey. The incident occurred just after midnight on Sunday. Police received reports of shots being fired outside the restaurant located on W. Edgar Road. No one was injured during the incident. According to police, four men arrived at the restaurant searching for another man and chased him outside. It was then that several shots were fired. Officers found two suspects near West 15th Street and South Stiles Street. When confronted by the police, the suspects tried to run away. Officers were able to arrest the teenager after a struggle. Two handguns were also recovered at the scene. The other suspects are still at large. The teenager is facing charges including aggravated assault and possession of weapons for unlawful purposes. He is currently being held at the Essex County Juvenile Detention Facility and will appear in Family Court. The Linden Police Juvenile Aid Bureau is continuing to investigate the situation.
